hello

here is a preview of the C64 version

the big work is done, but there is some details to do

rb+ has converted perfectly his long and wonderful music theme ( with C button ingame )

(this .abs file is optimized for skunkboard. with emulators, the tempo of music can be wrong)

see ya in a few days (weeks?) for the final rom ;)

Hi F.L.

Just wondering, are you "working" with Mr K. Hawken, a.k.a The Laird / Mr Kizza / LynxGod and his new alias "Epyx" ?  As he is claiming your port is the basis for a release of Barbarian.

yes , i have been contacted by epyx to do a new version with new ehanced gfx of barbarian for jaguar.

they are using my opensource codes for doing the game on DC and megadrive too

i dont knew them before. i hope they are serious.

for the moment the work they are doing is serious and respect the original game. cool

anyway, i will follow little step by little step the port my old versions to jaguar 100% faithful to the 1987's originals.
if i found free time of course. this weekend, no time to finish c64 version, maybe next week !

i'm still learning rb+; each version make me mastering more it

for a next step, i think you are all waiting the st version, isn't it ? ;)

stay tuned :D

Wow. Posts just keep going missing in here....

FL, you should be warned about "Epyx" - Kieren Hawken / The Laird / LynxGod / Mr Kizza... he has a history of burning people. I'd suggest you do a forum search for him, or just generally ask in the main forum regarding his questionable background.

Also, you should know he was very vocal regarding the 'shitty version from aa' - referencing your work. I'm sure he'll spin you a different story, but he won't be able to substantiate any of it.

If you do decide to work with him, I remind you of the licensing and logo requirements for a release using RAPTOR and U235.

Since I didn't get through to everyone yet:

Last warning - keep the jaguar retarded dramaz away from this subforum. This is not the place to do this. PMs exist for a reason. I don't even care who's right or wrong. Just keep all this shit out of here.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi F.L, two questions for you:

1) You published the source a while back - would you mind if I added it to the rb+ repository?

2) Did you use some sort of assembly->basic converter for the game logic? As a lot of it looks tool generated.

hello ggn

no problem, you can add my source. all my remakes are opensource

yu can found all the sources and ressources of the differents versions on my little website :

http://barbarian.198....fr/indexEN.htm

(all is in "download" . i must update it my the jaguar rom)

i dont use any tool/converter to make my code. i have started from a blank page in 2012 in basic with qb64.

it's always the same source that i have translated for many devices and many langagues ( basic > html5 > C , windows > megadrive > pcengine > jaguar )

my coding is a little strange because i have learn coding myself when i was teenager on my amstrad cpc 6128.

for example, i never use functions and i use too much IF...ELSE, GOTO and labels

but it works :D

if i found free time, i will make all the 7 versions of the game.

but at this moment , my job take me too much time. today i took a few hours to continue the c64 version

see ya !

Hello

Today is a great day for the remake of barbarian on jaguar !

I have finished the Atari ST version !

Everything is good working, i'm proud of this one because it's the most beautiful version of this game !

Here is the link to the rom :

https://www.dropbox....jaguar.zip?dl=0

For having the best speed of game and sfx, there is three roms in the zip :

One for cartridges

One for skunkboard

One for emulators

PT emulator is recommanded (included in the zip)

I hope you will enjoy to have this atari version on jaguar

See ya for the next version (amiga)

;-)

At this point all I could say is that you should consider teaming up with a graphic artist so you can create the ultimate version: better backgrounds, better sprites, more animation frames etc :)

Exactly what I was thinking GGN, if there's someone out there to tween those frames and make it super-slick, or if there's a remake somewhere with assets available, could be that the Jaguar might be blessed with the best one possible :)

Jaguar could easily use the graphics and music of "tdb soft" 2009 remake. I dont know if they are copyright.

When i will finish the 7 originals i could contact them to know if it's possible

hello !

i have found free time to finish the amiga version

it's the most coloured of the originals of 1988

i hope you will enjoy it

here is the link to dowload :

https://www.dropbox....jaguar.zip?dl=1

important : i have updated all the zip of the precedent links because windows had a warning when you download all files in one.

it was because of the .exe inside the folder (the emulator)

now, the emulator is inside a zip, so no more warning of windows

i recommand to always playing the roms with this emulator (PT.exe) because with virtualjaguar, the sfx are too quick and the game is too slow

now, 4/7 version are done.

the next will be the PC-CGA version in a few days (easy to do)

see ya !
