djour
The TCL P607 series is a highly rated 4K HDR set that is selling for $600 for the 55". With response time in the teens and a comparatively low price make this an excellent set to match up with 4K gaming and movies/programs. Flojomojo
Some of the prices are crazy ... why is that so much less than others? Ahead of the price curve, or missing an important feature like sufficient brightness? I'll probably jump into the low end someday (the Amazon Fire TV is almost tempting when it goes on sale), but it's probably going to take equipment failure for me to go through the expense and hassle of replacing a screen. Bill Loguidice
As seems to be the case of late, this discussion inspired me to put together a quick blog post saying a lot of the same stuff I said here and in other topics: http://armchairarcade.com/perspectives/2017/11/08/simplest-terms-tv-needs-take-advantage-xbox-one-x-ps4-pro/ I have no doubt that eventually HDR will be standard in almost all sets, although like with the 720p sets still available today, there will no doubt be stragglers. The TCL is a Chinese brand breaking into the US market. 4K tech is at that point where prices will start coming down. Just like VHS, DVD, flat screen, HD, Plasma, LCD, LED did. From what I've researched the set doesn't handle blacks and dark greys as well as more expensive ones do. But the TCL is about half the price of any other set featuring HDR, Dolby-Vision, and full array dimming. Plus, for gaming, the 15ms input lag is amazing. Don't get me started on Amazon Fire. We joined the cult of Amazon a little over a year ago and it is fantastic. I would drink that Kool-Aid again in a heartbeat.
0078265317
Don't have one my self. But here is the side by side comparison. https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one
+remowilliams
Aesthetically I really like the look and feel of the system, especially with the Project Scorpio on it Is the controller bundled with it the same as the ones that come with the One S? djour
Yes, but the feel is a bit different. Watch the video, I cover everything.
HammR25
My Scorpio sticker edition came yesterday but I didn't ever get an Xbone so the only thing I have to compare it to is my 360. It's definitely more refined than that. Now instead of having an advertisement in one place they're pretty much all over the screen. It starts and shuts off a lot easier than the 360 did when using my Harmony 550 and it boots a lot faster. My favorite thing is how it doesn't have a disc tray, just a slot where they go in and a physical button to get them out. Otherwise it's a console that plays games like a console. I'll probably use it to watch movies more than play games, at least until Red Dead Redemption 2 comes out.
negative1
i'm a huge microsoft fan, so its cool that they are putting this out. i'm all for the advancement of technology, especially frame rates, resolution and HDR colors. on the other hand, i am sticking with the xbox 360, and have no plans on ever upgrading to xbox one. i am still using a 720p television, and at other times a vga monitor for gaming. (My pc has an ultrawidescreen monitor thats higher resolution). So, yeah if a friend gets it (i know one person, but they don't have a 4k tv), i will check it out. Other than that, i see no point in ever getting one or in any of the games that use those features so i will wait another decade or so, when it might be affordable to try it out. (i usually wait a generation or two before trying a game system nowadays). later -
moycon
Mine came today but it wasn't a Scorpio edition. Kinds bummed about that, I guess I pre-ordered the wrong thing. Does it matter what kind of HDMI cable you use? It came with one, but can I just use an older Xbox 360 HDMI cable and get the same picture? Does it matter what kind of HDMI cable you use? It came with one, but can I just use an older Xbox 360 HDMI cable and get the same picture? If possible, use the one it came with. If not, despite what's commonly reported, almost any decent HDMI cable - even ones not expressly marked as high-speed - should give you full 4K/HDR bandwidth. When you're setting it up, the Xbox One X will tell you if there are any issues with your cable (or display).
djour
The cable that came with the 1X has a High Speed stamp on it. Make sure the cable you use has this stamp in order to utilize the full capability of 4K.

You should still use the new cable whenever possible, but it should work the same with almost any decent HDMI cable.
Hyper_Eye
Again, as stated, this does not necessarily have to be the case. You should still use the new cable whenever possible, but it should work the same with almost any decent HDMI cable. That largely depends on the cable length. A short enough cable will probably handle 4k content even if it is not "high speed". After a certain length the "high speed" cable becomes a necessity. Bilnick
I definitely want a XB1X but I don't see the need to get one until I buy a 4k HDR TV. I have a couple of Mitsubishi 73" DLP TVs that are 10+ years old, so if one of those dies I will be buying a 75" 4K HDR TV and a XB1X. spacecadet
Does your receiver have optical (S/PDIF) input? You can use HDMI for video and optical to your receiver for surround sound. S/PDIF doesn't support lossless formats like DTS Master Audio or Dolby TrueHD. I actually went through this for a while before I realized what was going on... every disc that had these formats on it would get a custom mixdown through my receiver that I was never satisfied with. If DTS MA or TrueHD were the only options on a disc, I'd get options on my receiver like "NEO 6: Neural Surround" or various music and audio hall surround formats, but nothing that really approximated what the original mix was going for. Partly that's a failing of my receiver and the way it does mixdowns, but ideally I want bit-perfect mixes anyway, and my receiver's totally capable of that with an HDMI connection. I've been listening to DTS MA and TrueHD for a long time now through HDMI. I don't really understand why I can't split the signal and still get those two formats. It's the way HDMI is designed but it seems like a design flaw to me. The audio format is the exact same as it ever was; I don't see why I shouldn't be able to pass it through to my audio component while passing 4K video to my TV. But I can't. moycon
Anyone have any suggestions on games to get that really take advantage of the 4k? I was thinking about Forza 7 (although I'm not a HUGE racing fan) but reviews for that game are pretty dismal. I have a couple 4k movies, but no 4k games. djour
So far Gears of War 4 and Quantum Break seem to be the best updates. Halo 5 benefits, but I hate the omission of split screen local multiplayer and can't recommend it.
S1500
Even though I don't have a 4K tv, I'm still considering buying one for the heck of it. But yeah, the name sounds like a teenager's handle xXBoxOneXx
Bill Loguidice
Not a great shot, but I posted a photo on Instagram of the Xbox One X next to the PS4 Pro before replacing the white Xbox One S. The compactness of the X is extremely impressive.
djour
I was also impressed with the size of the One X. I give a side by side comparison in the video of the near exact similarity to the One S. It definitely feels heavier.

Hyper_Eye
The power-brick is obviously outside right? No it has an internal power supply. They really designed the heck out of the thing.
Bill Loguidice
The power-brick is obviously outside right? Hyper_Eye already answered, but just like the One S, it has an internal power supply. I was able to just take the two cables from the Xbox One S and plug them into the X. Super easy. It just goes to show how having the big bucks can really allow for some impressive R&D when driven by the right people. And to reiterate an earlier point, it's crazy quiet too. Even under full load I didn't hear the fan. It's a shame this technology couldn't have been applied to my Alienware laptop.
