SignGuy81
I just bought a PS2 with network adapter(possibly has hard drive as well) on ebay for $17 and free shipping, but was listed as having a loose av port. I figured that was bout worth it anyway b/c the network adapter included. In the picture you can see that the plastic housing of the port is cracked. I figured it would be a cheap part so went ahead and bought the console. But the cheapest one I can find is this https://www.ebay.com/itm/AV-Socket-Port-Connector-for-Playstation-2-3-Slim-PS2-Slim-PS3-Slim-Console/291507159887?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 and that's way more than I want to spend. I want to replace the part other than epoxy or anything like that and would like to replace it with a new part. I should have checked prices of those I guess before I bought the system. Any help would be appreciated.
SignGuy81
I'm going to check everything out first when it arrives in case there is much more wrong with it than it is worth before I buy a connector just wanted to get a head start on finding one. SiberianSpForces
You may just have to re flow the solder hopefully. Otherwise you might find a partstation that doesn't have AV problems.
SignGuy81
Yeah that is what I just got to thinking because I just seen another listing for the same price I paid for 2 PS2s, two AV ports for the price of one of those new ones on ebay. Of course one of the 2 consoles in that pic had an AV port that looked cracked worse than the one I bought so it would only be one good one if I bought that, but a plus being having extra PS2 parts but either way more than wanted to spend at the moment. But yeah I will wait and see what all it needs, if I have to buy a new laser or anything else that I have to spend a bit on I'm just gonna do a cheap fix on the AV port instead. I was just really shocked that new connectors for those were so expensive, for a very common console, and part coming from China at that. SiberianSpForces
The plastic on the port cracked?
SignGuy81
The plastic on the port cracked? Yes this is the problem, that is what I meant by saying it had a loose av port above and later that the plastic housing is cracked. When I saw your reply I thought you thought I meant loose electrical connection(which I'm sure that is the case as well because the whole thing is loose) but yeah I was told that the plug doesn't stay in and is loose which is why I wanted to find another. I figured it would be a cheap new replacement when I bought the console but haven't found one yet that is cheap. I may use JB Weld I just don't want to do that though.
