APF MP-1000 Power Question

So I got an APF MP-1000 out of a friend's basement and all I have is the console, the controllers hard wired into the console, and the RCA cable that's hard wired into it. I read somewhere else on this forum that you can use an NES power supply to power it, but I am concerned about powering on the console, because the power connector seems to be extremely loose, so I don't know if I will damage the console at all, and these seem to be fairly rare, so I don't want to destroy it.

It can be pulled out this far.

And it can go in farther than this, but it won't stay completely in.

Is this intended for the console, or is something wrong with it?

If I do start the console will it show anything, or does it not do anything? I plan on purchasing some games for it at some point, if I can figure out if it works.
