Anybody getting Battlefront II?

According to Boogie, it takes 40 hours to unlock Darth Vader and Luke.... And then you have to farm or buy loot crate to upgrade them... Or spend $$$ to buy "credit" or said loot crates.

I believe they lowered it to 10 after the backlash.

Still, that doesn't bother me that much. I put enough hours into the last game, that I'd unlock them. It gives a goal to work towards.

I (accidentally) double-dipped for both PS4 and PC. I am looking forward to the improved starfighter battles. I like Star Wars, I like games, and I really like Star Wars games.

Yeah yeah EA is the devil and all that. I don't buy into that kind of hate ... at least they're delivering a product, with decent support and outstanding production values.

I read somewhere the credit reward seem to be bugged. It's something like the player gets 10x the credit than normal. So 350 credits is now 3500 credits. I don't know if it's true or not. Still, it might be worth looking into before EA does something about it.

I will probably get it for the PS4 at a later state when game + extra DLC can be had for cheap. I got the rebooted Battlefront with all extras for about 10$ some 2 months ago when they wanted to sucker people in for the sequel.

I really like the effects and sounds, and care less for what gear to use to max out kills and whatnot.

I played a couple matches last night. It's going to take a little time to learn the maps and overly complicated progression system. I may have to put the previous version in to just have some arcade fun. I do miss my jet pack and the ability to choose the map I want to play on. On the plus side, I really like the space battles much better now, it feels like it actually rewards skill.

I want to get it because I did enjoy the first one for a while... but I'm just kind of annoyed that every time I buy a new PS4 game I have to go through and delete a bunch of stuff because of mandatory downloads. I'm going to try to get an X Box One S during Black Friday sales, and if so, it might be something I pick up.

Early players have been saying they've unlocked everything in just a couple of days without spending anything. Reports of the insane amount of time to unlock everything are looking like more misinformation.

Idk why gamers are always in a rush to prejudge a game based on misinformation rather then wait to judge it on what it actually is.

Agreed, "gamers" are overly tribal when it comes to their support of multinational megacorporations. I still want to roll my eyes out of my skull when I remember that The Consumerist's readers voted EA as "worst company in America" not once but twice.

Yes. I usually find I enjoy the "most hated" games. And the criticism is way overblown.

Truly bad games are met with indifference. When you see a "hate bandwagon" form around a game. They are usually just butthurt about some detail that was reported. A perceived broken promise here, a graphical downgrade there. Or selective outrage over optional purposes in-game. (selective as in some publishers get a pass for the same practices)

This usually happens before anyone has even played the game and can give an honest, balanced criticism. The games media has a big role in drumming up this mob mentality.

Yeah EA are dicks when it comes to customer support, but honestly there are WAY worse corporations that do far more harm to people that gets less public scorn than what "gamers" give for trivial things like microtransactions. EpiPen anyone?

As for Battlefront II, I hadn't got a chance to play the trial verison of the first one so won't say much...

Gamers are overreacting to EA's ‘Star Wars’ controversy; publishers should raise prices: Analyst

  • KeyBanc Capital Markets says outrage over video game micro-transaction pricing is not justified.
  • "If you take a step back and look at the data, an hour of video game content is still one of the cheapest forms of entertainment," the firm's analyst writes. "Quantitative analysis shows that video game publishers are actually charging gamers at a relatively inexpensive rate, and should probably raise prices."

It's true. Most entertainment options cost more than gaming. Usually a lot more. Not that I want to see prices get raised

I think back at how little content we got in our 2600 games, compared to the 30, 40 or more hours of content modern games ship with. Inflation adjusted, modern games are cheaper. (And if you don't want to pay $60 at launch, just wait a couple months and it will go on sale for much less.) Yet I don't recall our generation having the hissy-fits over game prices like modern gamers do. Not to sound old, but kids today don't know how good they have it!

It drives me nuts to read gaming news sites and see overblown controversies, especially when they are using misinformation to fuel their rage. Like the claim that it will take thousands of hours to unlock all heroes in BF2 if you don't pay up. The truth is people are unlocking them all in just a couple of days without spending a dime.

All we could do BITD was write letters to the publishers or game magazines. I'm sure there was plenty of nerd rage back then, too ... just without a platform to amplify it.

For the price of the $80 Deluxe Edition of SWBF2, you could have bought Stampede AND Kaboom AND Dragster AND Starmaster!!

Keep calm and gonk on.
