Fragmare
Using all 6 channels here of the POKEY+TIA combo. It's still a bit rough, and i'm still pretty newb at TIATracker, but it's getting somewhere, at least. I've got the POKEY doing the leads, bassline and one chorus channel. The TIA is handling the PSG percussion and the other chorus channel. https://instaud.io/1rIj Edited November 17, 2017 by Fragmare

It's too bad that Atari was in such bad shape by the time the 7800 was finally released. The console could have given the NES a real run for it money if Atari had able to properly finance and support the console during it 's market life.
+-^CrossBow^-
That....is really quite impressive! I'm just imagining how much better all the games could have been had they just put the pokey in the damn console to begin with!
Loxx O)))
That was really cool, honestly. For a while I've been interested in working with some of these older limitations but never really found out what I needed to do so. Maybe I should start talking to you guys or do some research. But yeah, that was an awesome little clip.
+Stephen
That sounds really nice! What tools did you use to compose this?
DanthWader
When the XM comes out you should write music for existing games. Be cool the hear pokey on robotron, food fight and dangerzone on ace of aces hehe
Fragmare
Thanks, I'm glad you guys like it. I'm hoping to make it sound much better before it's done. It's a loooooooooong tune. I'm using RMT (for the POKEY) and TIATracker for the TIA. Then I'm recording the POKEY output through Altirra and the TIA output through BizHawk. Then just combining them in Sound Forge or Audacity or whatever and normalizing. Here's a more recent one with more pronounced TIA drums... still working on them. I'm happy with the snare, but I'd like to get the kickbass a bit lower pitched and punchier, if i can. https://instaud.io/1rV1
+Stephen
Ooh - cheating In theory though, this could be played back on a 7800 with pokey right?
Fragmare
Ooh - cheating In theory though, this could be played back on a 7800 with pokey right? Right. In fact, with the generated ASM from the respective trackers it should be totally doable for someone with programming knowledge of the 7800 to make a ROM image playable in an emulator or in a cart with a POKEY chip. Unfortunately, I know next to zero assembly, or any other programming language for that matter. i'm just the graphics and sound guy lol... Here's the latest refinement. Got the drums mixed a little more prominently and a little bit of the POKEY doing some shredding https://instaud.io/1szI
Fragmare
Here's something to chew one while I take a short break from this track. I'm at the half-way point, but this is a loooooooong song, and I need a break from it for a while haha https://instaud.io/1vXF

Lynxpro
When the XM comes out you should write music for existing games. Be cool the hear pokey on robotron, food fight and dangerzone on ace of aces hehe Why would he need to write POKEY audio for Robotron: 2084? Just take the existing POKEY audio from the 5200/Atari 8-bit versions. Unless it sucks like XEGS Desert Falcon. XEGS Commando POKEY audio sounds different from the 7800 POKEY version to me. Hell, Atari arcade games used POKEY...or Dual/Quad POKEY. Another issue apparently would be timing. Look at Plutos/Sirius...CPUWiz said there isn't enough available to add POKEY audio to either of those shooters. But by all means, if there's a will, maybe there's a way. Fire it up... Get Dual POKEY+TIA+the YM2151 in the XM.
