Original logo, and new position? Or back in centre? It didn't work in the corner...also indented the 1088XEL label...

If your aiming that case at the 1088XEL, then the console and reset buttons don't exist as a separate entity (F5-F8 on PS/2 keyboard). Of course you could mickey-mouse wire it in, but that would be a pita. Also not sure if the Eclaire XL or the Polish Mini-ITX projects provide a header for these buttons either  :? .

Someone could create a custom version of the board with console keys header and XEGS keyboard port. That would be perfect for this style case.

Would it be a 1088XELGS then, or is that too long of a name?
:)

Run them across the bottom edge of the top plate slope and people can use them for whatever they wish, joy/mouse mode selection, sio2ide whatever...

Or maybe even 1088XEL-GM where GM = Game Machine which was usually what the console being sold by itself was known as. XEGS (XE Game System) really referred to the complete 'system' that came with the light gun and a game that could use it.

Yep that would make sense.

Ohhhhhh noooooooooooo!

I really liked where where you were headed originally, but this is going off the rails with the gigantic "1088XEL".  I would recommend finding a location where the fuji can be next to the model number (as with the 5200) or on opposite sides (left for fuji, right for model number).

Personally, I would ditch the trapezoid-shaped buttons and go with XL-style rectangles, but if I had to pick one, I'd take the trapezoid buttons over the gigantic "1088XEL" any day.

Please don't ever suggest that to a die-hard Mopar guy :)  1088 SRT maybe.

Since the top will be the part most readily modified to various tastes , maybe move the Fuji out of the way, to a more neutral place on the bottom portion, like between and beneath the joy ports. I personally liked the small 1088XEL logo, as it was before. icon_smile.gif Square buttons are a little more universal and maybe other retro hobbiests could adapt the case, with a few stylistic changes, to other systems, as well. XE style is good, too, and I think they're currently well-placed.

Doesn't the TKII handle dual k/bs? Can a circuit that outputs those discreet key values, trick it? Might be a bit wonky with timing delays..

Yes the 2nd PS/2 port is available on an internal header, so yes some sort of board could be created and plugged into it to translate switch closures to PS/2 speak for those functions. Anything is possible assuming someone puts the time and effort into it.

I only included consol on my own early prototype. There is a gpio header though so if doing a custom case would be best to wire them up. This case looks great. Would need a cart slot and pbi slot though:)

I prefer this design, the label is now optional, you have an inset area to place one if wanted. The 5 front panel buttons could be removed and a single custom panel fitted if preferred. added some mounts for boards, but unsure how high to make these. Factors I guess would be

height of preferred button (recommendations?) + thicknesses of PCB (2mm?) + Impact point on under side of button

Really starting to shape up looking good

name plate to the left side please :) angle relationship of buttons and name plates should be more alike... slightly

if we're going for the gusto'

Hidden knock out for sio2sd or other screen above 5 buttons... if not removed top looks unblemished but if you look underneath you will see the outline and material is less in the grooves

Looking good.  All we need is a cart port, someplace. icon_smile.gif

cart port.... left side 1200XL style? rear 130XE style? top XL style?   If it's on the top we need cart door flaps...

if the name tag were to the left and just above the bend would that be better and keep the slant face cleaner for you standard user?

(I had edited my comment while you were commenting, so our convo looks a bit discombobulated. Sorry about any confusion.) It's looking overall well to me at this point, so not too worried about it. I can be too finicky, sometimes.. Just curious to see what he comes up with, with the cart port, now. Then I'll opine again. icon_mrgreen.gif

No cart ports?

Seems the XEGS is still the best way to play those dusty old 8-bit cartridges...

My opinion would be to put the cart port between the joystick ports, if that’s possible.

It would be cool to have the supports for a SSD in case someone wants to put a PC ITX board in the case.

When you apostraphize a plural, it really looks dumb. That's a 3rd grade level grammar mistake.

I spent most of two decades literally writing and communicating for a living. I understand your point. But the guy also gave us this and made the whole project open and transparent as essentially a gift to the community. Perhaps some linguistic shortcomings are not worth not getting your knickers in a twist over. Just a suggestion.

That's looking real nice :)

No reason to start a new thread, since this one was aimed at alternative Mini-ITX cases, which your design certainly qualifies for.

Oh wait a minute... You meant to say apostrophize didn't you :)

Well it looks like we both need some help with the English language :). But getting back to what you were pointing out, I'll have to see if Albert can make that suggested correction to this Topic's title. So Albert if you read this, please go ahead and do that.

Thank you,

Can someone give me the measurements for Lotharek's SIO LCD Panel and the position of the PCB its on, and PCB size and mounting holes? I need to make sure that cut out is correct and it has suitable mount points, Cheers.
