AAA177
Just curious if anyone here (Bill, perhaps, although others are welcome) might have any thoughts on the chances that the Pitfall II: Lost Caverns game that was in the arcade might someday be released on a Sega Flashback unit. I think I played that once years ago. I think it might be on the Archive site, but still, be nice to have it in a dedicated format. Wondering what the rights situation on that would be (does Activision Blizzard call the shots on where that can go? Sega?).
phoenixdownita
Maybe you (and them) could be appeased with the SG-1000 version: The AtGames SMS emulator may already be capable of playing it, who knows. Nice comparison of various ports + arcade:
+FujiSkunk
So far Sega hasn't put any of their arcade games on a plug-and-play, except for those that were ported to the Genesis. That's too bad really, because an all-in-one with games like Zaxxon, Congo Bongo, Turbo and the lesser-known Gremlin collaborations would fit right in with the Atari, Namco and Konami sticks that continue to make the rounds. Pitfall II would be a little more complicated, partly due to the licensing and partly due to not many arcade plug-and-plays focusing on any era after the early '80s. The SG-1000 cartridge is probably a little hard to find, especially if you live outside of Japan. Perhaps slightly easier to find is the ColecoVision port that Pixelboy released.
AAA177
Thanks for the replies. Did not know about that SG version, or the other port. I would love Sega to release a dedicated device as described, with Zaxxon and especially Congo Bongo; the latter is one of my favorite arcade games from my youth. We should try to use our power as a community to lobby for this.
