Haven't heard anything about the HOKEY (POKEY) replacement chip in ages, is it still being worked on?

What about the QPokey, could it be adapted to be used on the A8?   With increasing chip costs a QPokey is certainly cheaper than a populated quad pokey board.   I am putting together another stereo board for my 600XL and I am lamenting having to try and get another POKEY or cannibalize it.
