mattsoft
Amazingly enough, I picked up a very nice condition Lynx (model 1) from eBay the other day. The case is immaculate, but best of all, it works and didn't get damaged in shipping. It came with 5 games (California Games, Blue Lightning, Klax, Slime World, and RoadBlasters) and a nice nylon case. I'm pretty new to the Lynx, but I've always had a soft spot for systems made by Jay Minor or the people he ran with, like the Amiga and 3DO. This thing really does feel like what the Amiga would have been if it were a portable game machine. Anyway, after it gets a good bath (it's pretty dirty), and I play the hell out of California Games (still love that game), I need to figure out my next move. It's either going to be SainT's excellent multi-cart card, or the McWill screen mod -- I forgot how terrible these old passive screens are! +davidcalgary29
The answer is yes, and yes! to both of your planned purchases. The McWill upgrade is pricey but completely worth it. Try a before-and-after with Slime World, and you won’t believe that it is on the same system.
mattsoft
Hah! I'll probably do the multi-cart first. I took the Lynx apart and glad I did, there were 2 AA batteries stuck in the left end of the battery holder and they were leaking green and white crap all over the place. A little vinegar later and the toxic waste is neutralized. Phew!

This thing really does feel like what the Amiga would have been if it were a portable game machine. Jay Miner (not Minor) had nothing to do with the Lynx. But other ex-Amiga employees Robert J. Mical and Dave Needle were the main designers of the Lynx when they worked at Epyx. They later went on to create the 3DO console.
EzdineG
Having done the McWill mod myself, it is definitely worth the effort if you plan on using your Lynx at all. Make sure you get the Zener and mosfet changed on that unit ASAP! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
