Here a bit help for the game. The scoring overview in case you dont have access to the manual and a run of Intellivision Dude, which shows a bit of the gameplay.

It's tough to get by the last gate. That's for sure, I find I kill more of them with bullets than when I try with
Grenades.

Its a really challenging game. You really get many points. I ended two runs on the gate as well and just had about 30k points.

It sure is tough,I made it by the gate my last game and was short of my high score by a few thousand. Died with in 30 secs once I made it through though. Lol

Ok I made it through to the end of the 2nd gate twice , still couldn't beat my high score going that far But I did beat it not making it through again. Strange how that works. I kept dieing at the first gate but made it to the first gate without dieing the until there.

Even Today, I had to make it to mission two multiple times before I beat my personal best up to the last score I posted..

I think that's a great start, just keep moving and don't stay in one spot... and keep firing bullets...

The Intellivision controller is not well suited for rapid fire games. Try this game in an emulator with a modern controller. Use an analog control as Intellivision Commando uses all 16 directions.

Emulation or alternate controllers?

If any of you guys tried both emulation and real hardware with any games; did you notice a difference in gameplay/timing?

Emulation.  Controllers are ok as long as it works with the intellivision.  Especially since the originals are so hard to get in good condition
