Which Astro?

Can't decide which Astro homebrew to get myself for Christmas. Which is better and why? Astro Blaster or Astro Fighter?

Astroblaster . I like the variety of all the different boards and enemies .

I had the same dilemma recently. I ordered Astro Blaster. It just looked like it has a bit more depth than Astro Fighter.

Astroblaster has speech is more in depth, better graphics, more colourfull, better sounds, yadda yadda.. All were done like the original arcade with no fault to the programmer as that is the way they are.

Astroblaster easily is the better of the two.

Buy both. I have had them for years along with every game Bob has made.

Money is tight. So i have to limit myself... Draconian for 2600 is taking the second spot

Money is tight here now for me too... back then I had lots of extra and could buy every homebrew I cared about under the sun...2017 was the worst year I can remember. I hope things turn around in 2018!

A guy has to be responsible and put games after food and other bills..(all the lame things)

I own Astro Blaster because I've had the privilege to play the actual arcade game and PMP's version is as about arcade perfect as you can get for a home console. And I already own the Astro Fighter homebrew release for the Colecovision already.

Astro Blaster is very special to me, so I would say that one, however Astro Fighter is just a great fun game too. If you can scrape up the money for both I highly recommend both of them.

Started to look at that one too. I'm set on Blaster right now. I might pull the trigger on a couple of 7800 carts since I'm debating getting Draconian or waiting to see how long before I can get it without a box.

Short answer?

Astro Blaster is a game I keep returning to on the 7800.

It is the evolution of Astro Fighter, so arguably much better.

 

Long answer?

Games like Astro Blaster and Moon Cresta are better for home consoles as opposed to an arcade game, because initially they are difficult.

At home that just means "one more time".

In the Arcade, for my 13-year-old self, another game meant another quarter!

So games that would last a minute or two were passed over for games that had longer play entertainment.

 

As for longer play time, Draconian plays much longer than any above mentioned game.

As a kid, I never saw Bosconian in central Pennsylvania.

Because there are 12 votes here and only a total of 8 reviews there. Astro Fighter only has two. That doesn't necessarily mean that it stinks either. Plus when everyone gushes it doesn't help discern which is better. Gameplay on both looked fine.
