Beta testers wanted for NTSC Dimo's Quest & Dimo's Dungeon

Hello all...
After a very heavy workload year, i now start with my holidays.
I want to port both Dimo games to NTSC before i continue to finish the cart version.
Would anyone of you be interested to play the levels on a NTSC Atari and report me the remaining errors?

i expect the first testable NTSC version around XMAS...

Hi Thomas, I have an 800 XL NTSC and feel so boring between Chrismas and New Year... (and at least I have an excuse not to contribute something for the New Years Disk ;))

I am not sure if i can accept responsibility for not contribute to NYD ;-)

But of course i am happy that you test Dimo :-)

all nown bugs are fixed for Dimo's Dungeon NTSC, It behaves nicly so far on NTSC maschines.

i have to adjust PAL->NTSC colors now and then it will be done. :-)

If someone else want to test it before the official release, just send me your email address...

Next step: NTSC version for Dimo's Quest Lurch Edition...

It has been very nice to run Dimos Dungeon in NTSC. Those of us with NTSC machines are in for a real treat when this is released. I am not surprised it did so well in the 2016 ABBUC Software contest.

 

I did send you my bug report. In my limited testing, I did not find any NTSC-related problems. The biggest thing I found is the game kept telling me it was level 1 when I moved to a new level.

I made thru to level 4, but I litterally lucked out.... very very tight timing, the cycles all lined up....wow!

 

Get everything get along side the double doors, hop up a few times and you will see things slow down just the tiniest tiniest tiniest fraction almost indiscernible as it raises just that last sliver of a little bit run to the left you will make it through!

 

I repeated this a number of times now, the hop must make the stars align!

Im stuck on level 3 because that crusher keeps getting me. I dont have the timing down yet. However, I blame that on my poor gaming skills rather than NTSC timing. I havent played the PAL version in Altirra to see if its any easier for me to get past level 3 on PAL.

okay, THAT was not wanted, this is a bug :-D :-D :-D

I changed the speed of the doors a bit... :)

Version 02 was just send to you via email...

 

Fixed Bugs in Version 02:

* Parallax background is now in sync while scrolling

* Enemies are now in sync while scrolling (as long as there are not to many of them visible at the same time)

* Music speed slightly changed

* Animation speed slowed a bit (so the metal doors open&closes not so fast any more)

* Word “Autschn” translated into “ouch that hurt”

* hopefully fixed: wrong Level Number “01” stated for level x…

 

Still known bugs / work to do:
* Still using the PAL color palette
