It is bootable! level numbers update! End sequence works ;)

 

level 19, key colors still do not match play area vs collected vs door colors

ie  I pick up red key, collected key area shows only 3 keys instead of 4 and it shows my red key collected as a white key, but the white key is unlocking gold door

 

I can perturb the sound more easily when starting out, try super quick joy press to start, quick joy press, normal joy press or hold down stick and let go and see if you can replicate... (this is linked to my earlier comment about spastic joy pressing causing sound init issue entering a new level)... who knows why but when the sound starts decently you almost never experience slow down, if the sound starts slightly wrong or completely shot you may experience slow down... could be my imagination about the latter... anyone else notice this?

if you do not find new bugs, this could be the final NTSC version... ;-)

 

 

 

i will now start porting Dimo's Quest (Lurch Edition) to NTSC...

Anyone tested it on hybrid systems (NTSC machine with PAL ANTIC or PAL machine with NTSC ANTIC ?

If not, I can do both....

I couldn't hurt to do both on real machines... I would think if it's broke on a pure NTSC that would it might not be on the variants you have... however it could shed light on where to look for the problem and it's solution if it works on one and not the other...

I am getting stuck on Level 3 of Dimo's Quest.  Also, the title screen music and scroller seems a little too fast.

 

Edit: Nevermind level 3, I got it. I see things must be done in proper order... :)

on the questbeta02 , level 8, I am stuck on the puzzle at the moment, I played through all else to get here... I had played these levels before the fix, there were very few spots in these games that didn't work before the conversion, the big deal was screen jumping when too many enemies thankfully that only happened on a few screens... i haven't seen that with this but level 7 if you put boulders across the water to the right and walk forever you will come to more water but the treat and path are corrupted, you can of course do the puzzle to the left and win the level but I like to be thorough

 

level 8 you can trap and smash enemy or run them over with boulder... they will either disappear or drag along the screen with you.. I have to give this some more thought but after you die the half dead enemy can appear at your start position and you die at spawn.
