This looks AMAZING but it crashes on Altirra that the beginning. All I see is Shadow of the Ninja - Stage 1.
I've tried several different hardware/os/memory configurations and no luck.

No music plays? Hmm, I'll take a look when I get home from work today. Anybody else having problems getting the ROM image to run?

Nope, nothing. I can send you a video if that would help but I think if you just spin up Altirra, you'll experience it.

Interesting... I used Altirra to record the music for the video lol

I just realized I'm using v. 2.60 and the latest is 2.90. Let me try that and I'll get back to ya. If it doesn't work, I'll give much more detail about my settings and process.

OK, it seems to be working now. (hitting rewind button :-) )

On a side "note", has anyone done a good tutorial on RMT? I've eyeballed the instructions but there doesn't seem to be anything that identifies element on the application and it's not exactly intuitive. What's the best way to get up to speed with this application?

After hearing a lot of your good NES interpretations, I'm wondering what some TMNT might sound like.

Question is, WHICH tmnt?   :D

I've always been partial to the TMTN1 title screen music, even though the game itself is deeply flawed

I like TMNT1 title-screen music and the first sewer.

It is a frustrating game to play, like a lot of NES platformers.

The arcade TMNT games also have outstanding soundtracks... particularly the first stages, sewer and technodrome themes

This intro was done years ago. It uses some other music with some sampled parts.

Kinda interesting, but better could be done of course.

Hey Fragmare , is the volume level wanted or accidental?

Besides that. What do you think about this solution ? It doesn't use any vibrato.
Also , I "supplemented" some of that reverb flanger FX as in the original....

The volume level of the whole thing? Or just a specific channel/instrument? Generally, I try to keep the various volumes proportionate to whatever song I'm covering, but reduce them a bit on POKEY, in the hopes of avoiding going over the "32 volume limit"... I'm sure I still go over the limit once in a while, but I don't really ever notice an excessive amount of distortion or artifacting.

I'll have to check out the video when I get home from work

Here is the RMT

The solution to get sharper sounding notes sometimes does better when just the volume of the depending channels changes. The 8 bit resolution sometimes fits and sometimes ruines it all. Playing a little with the volume gives the variation of the slightly different pitch at every octave the chance to shine through and to let the resulting note more correct. It sounds actually like a real pitch vibrato then.

your understanding of the interaction within the chip is so darn spot on lots of time, if there just was some way to convey that better in some other instances...

nice job I like it.
