+SpiceWare
I've been noticing the picture on my 1084S is darker than normal when I first power it on. I have an Amiga CD32 and an Atari 2600 connect to it via an S-Video switchbox. Problem occurs with both consoles. After a while the picture becomes normal. I've done cap kits on my Vectrex as well as my 2600, so am thinking perhaps the monitor's due for one as well. Does this seem likely? If so any recommendations on where to get a kit? Thanks! +Mitch
It wouldn't surprise me, the problem is finding the correct cap list as Commodore made multiple revisions of the 1084 and the documentation is not always clear which one is being referenced. I know console5 sells some Commodore monitor cap kits, you could check there. Mitch
+SpiceWare
Thanks. Looks like Commodore has a lot of variations for the same model - console5 has a kit for the 1084D and I found cap kits elsewhere for the 1084S-D2 and 1084S-P. Not sure any of those would be appropriate for my 1084S-D1.
AMenard
Since you're going to open it up to do the recap, you could always do it right now and look up the values of the cap you want to replace. I also recommend taking a lot of picture so you can be sure of the orientation of those caps.
+SpiceWare
look up the values of the cap you want to replace I'm not that savvy on the hardware side of things and needed quite a bit of help(starting at reply 33 ) figuring out the small kit for the 2600. As such, I'll most likely enlist the aid of my friend who recapped my Vectrex(reply 8 ).
