It wasn't supposedly... it was real...
The machines took turns using the daisy chained peripherals connected to the box.. the DOS had a damn near endless retry instead of time out and to keep a user able to load and then save without losing their turn to like 7 other people that might be trying to do something on the sio bus it also took like 5 seconds after that users last activity before the sio would release to someone else...... every school that used this also had an mpp printer buffer...for obvious reasons...
