I've seen some great stuff done by the community on the Atari 8bit, like the Asteroids arcade conversion, the unfinished IK+ that was looking great. The improved Donkey Kong/Popeye/DKjr that were posted here.

I'm wondering what other great stuff like that is around that I may have missed? I don't think there's a single source that's collected these things.

I'm especially interested in anything that pushes the system more than the average 80s game. Doing things we thought were impossible.

Latest game, only released a week ago, is the insanely great Bosconian arcade conversion.

I don't know why I play Dr. Mario.... I just do.... and it's never ending..... I ask myself why... never have and answer.... and find myself playing it again at some point... must be something, but what?

Its really weird, I look at Dr Mario and think its an awesome game but I never play it en though I play a Snes Japanese game with Mario etc in where you try and get columns and pieces removed by grouping them together, the idea is to clear every piece, once I've started I can't put it down....

I just can't understand why I don't play Dr Mario....??????

Snes game I mean,,,

I just heard about this and after spending so much time with Draconian I'm itching to try this out. It's good timing as I just got an Atarimax USB programmer cart and an 8 meg cart so I'm hoping to get it up and running this weekend and Bosconian is definitely one I want on there.

Ive played more rounds of Dr. Mario XE than any other modern game. Its a truly excellent port.

And Im going to be the first to put in a plug for the amazing Pac-Man Arcade, because it deserves it. :)

Where do I find this Pac-Man Arcade? As you can imagine searching for that turns up all sorts of unrelated things.

Atariblast looks good in videos, but I can't get past the title screen?

Same with Space Harrier. I wonder if I downloaded the best versions

Both of them are Fire to start

The version of Atariblast I use is linked from this video

The space harrier I use is from atarionline.pl

Where is the advanced search link on that site? I must be missing it.

Well, the "advanced search" can be found at atarimania.

At Fandal's webpage you type in the year in the search function (top right) and then click on "in details". Then all programs that were released in that year should be shown - if Fandal has them on his webpage (in his database). This works very good for newer releases from 2000-2017, not so good for releases of the 80s and 90s, since there are many programs where the exact year of release is unknown.

Example: a) 2017: http://a8.fandal.cz/search.php?search=2017&butt_details_x=x

b) 2016: http://a8.fandal.cz/search.php?search=2016&butt_details_x=x

etc.

I will post both the AtariMax CAR and XEX versions of "Pac-Man" arcade for you later tonight when I get home.

I think thats only true if you run it as an executable. As a cartridge image, I have no problems running it on my 64k XEGS. The only problem I have is I stink at it. :-)

This is true. Supposedly the "Atariblast" cartridge will even play on a stock 16k A400 (although I have not tested this myself).
