Stickied threads for Channel F, Arcadia, etc?

Recommended Posts

I was just thinking it might be a good idea to have a stickied thread at the start of the Classic Gaming General Section for the Channel F, as it doesn't really need an entire section to it (or maybe it could?) but an official, general purpose Channel F thread might be a good thing to have in place of multiple different threads relating to it that make searching for particular bits of information unnecessarily difficult.

Maybe have the same for the Arcadia, too?

And/or even make the GOLD MINE thread stickied (but no name change), as it has become the central repository for Studio II research and talk?

I don't think systems like the Channel F get discussed enough for that to really be an issue, but I guess it can't hurt.

The problem with threads like the Studio II megathread is that you get to a point where if you want to reference anything, you have to sift though dozens and dozens of pages--essentially the same problem you're describing with multiple threads, just on a more local level. The other problem is that if the thread is going one direction and you want to talk about something else, it becomes OT to do so.

The GOLD MINE thread is relatively academic and technical, with an emphasis on cataloging every known variant of the Studio II and related software and hardware worldwide. It's a research thread, and that's great and interesting and valuable, but it's not the place for somebody who just wants to talk about playing strategies for Space War or something (granted, besides me, how many of those people can there be? :P).
