SoundGammon
Going with the idea of PS1, PS2, PS3 & PS4. The 5200 would be VCS2, right?
MrMaddog
It should have been the CX3200 or Video System X which would have played both 2600 carts and games with 400/800 type graphics...
tschak909
Sigh, looks like I have to keep correcting this myth... The CX3200 was an internal prototype number allocated for a prototype called Sylvia, which was not compatible with the VCS, or the 400/800, but represented a sort of alternate universe where the 800 never existed, similar specifications, but cheaper to make (2K of RAM, more sprites than VCS, better playfield than VCS). It was designed by Douig Neubauer, who also designed POKEY, and ultimately never left the breadboard stage due to severe design limitations (sprite DMA fetch was implemented using the NMI, and thus barfed when sprites overlapped because NMIs can't nest on the 6502), and the simple fact that sales/marketing refused to sell anything that would potentially cannibalize VCS profits. -Thom

Lynxpro
It would be the VCS 360 Followed by the VCS One.
HammR25
The XE was the VCS One X because it tried to be a computer too.
