SoundGammon
Going with the idea of PS1, PS2, PS3 & PS4. The 7800 would be VCS3, right?

Or like if the Video Computer System was the 2600 and the Super System was the 5200 does that mean the Pro System is the 7800?

Shaggy the Atarian
I'm glad Atari tried to name their consoles with some degree of thought. PlayStation naming has always been as lazy as you can get in that regard.
Jinks
I know they should have called it atari 1 atari 2 atari 3 atari 4 atari 5 just like playstation. Would that be sweet?

Granted, they have done that with the Flashback. I imagine they would do the same with the Ataribox too (assuming it doesn't end up as the next Coleco Chameleon)
Shawn
The 2600 WAS the VCS, the original name! And the 5200 WAS Super and the 7800 WAS Pro. Their original names! As mentioned by another user, take it easy on the meds cause it's starting to effect your post quality bigtime.

lifemadesimple
I know they should have called it atari 1 atari 2 atari 3 atari 4 atari 5 just like playstation. Would that be sweet? You joke but honestly after many many questions and a good deal of confusion, that's basically how I explain the 7800 when new people come over and notice it. "Hey is that an Atari!" "Yeah!" "Like an old Atari?" "It is, but maybe not the one you're thinking of- its a 7800, instead of one of the old 2600's." "..." "Its like an Atari 3. It plays the Atari games you're thinking of but also it can play some 8 bit ones." "Oh, sweet!" Queue Pitfall or whatever. This happens whenever the roommates bring someone new around and honestly I'm just happy they're playin' Atari.
