Tales from the Game Room
The sound effects are definitely taken from Intellivision games. I somehow believe that the game in this video was simply created just for the "National Lampoon's Vacation" film.
mr_me
The graphics might be made up but the sound effects are Intellivision Space Battle, Snafu, Poker & Blackjack, and NFL Football. The kids are playing a Bally Astrocade and Clark is using an Apple II.
digdugnate
i'm not sure of the legitimacy of the trivia, but i found this: "During the scene where Clark is showing the family the vacation route on the computer, and Rusty is chasing the Family Truckster with his game character, some of the sounds are from Mattel Intellivision games. Some are: Football and Basketball (referee whistle), Las Vegas Poker and Blackjack (gong sound), and Donkey Kong (Jump sound)." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085995/trivia

+x=usr(1536)
I seem to recall that that sequence was traditionally-animated - no software involved. No idea why that's sticking in my mind, but it's a fairly strong recollection.
+thanatos
My guess is that is animation and not even computer generated. Look at the way the ship shoots perfect lines without pixels.
+frankodragon
I thought maybe the map was from the Atari 8-bit States and Capitals program, since WB had Atari, but looks completely different.
+Black_Tiger
It's all animated by hand. Besides the framerate giveaways and misc, some of the graphics were so finely detailed that they weren't possible at the time. Lazy productions often only simulated pixelization on a few elements when faking computer graphics.
CatPix
Amazingly, the joysticks appears to be Bally Astrocade ones.
