I love my HDX... even though I cant get it to work!!! :D

I think I messed it up somehow. But no matter.... soon I will have my ultimate dungeon setup and I will fix everything that is broken and create things that have never been created. :D

I have a breadboard project with the serial port that I really want to do...

The Horizon layout is next on my list, as I have authorization to make more of those.

No more beautiful words have ever been spoken..... :)

Let me know if I can help in any way. I dont know much about designing a board, but perhaps I could assist with testing or proto costs or something.

1 - does it work to OLD PIO in basic, if not, dsr needs reloading

2 - after that does it work loading a term program on both sides and typing

3 - after that does the dsr message show up in hdx server when you reset the ti?

Thanks for the reply, Greg. :)

I haven't tried in a little over a year... last time I tried, I put a new battery in, loaded the DSR from diskette, and got it to function as a standard RS232 using CFHDXS1 on the TI side and the HDX software on the TI side. It would not recognize the HDX as an HDX (as we know it to be).

Again, this is a bit fuzzy because it was a year (and 800 miles) ago.

Eventually the DSR corrupted again (and I reloaded it again) and then it corrupted again (I think this time it was because I jostled it while turning it over in my hands and I may or may not have unseated the battery.

Anyway, I had the TI out last night for some disk duplication, but I had to put it away because it was out on the kitchen table... I'll have it all up and running soon when I get my new desk built... it will be priority #1 to get the HDX working as it should. It is too amazing a piece of hardware not to use it as it should be used.

All these old/new TI options coming to fruition these modern days with all the mature tools to implement them. It seems even more active than back in TI's heydays when it was a relatively state-of-the-art system. It's easy to say today's very active TI community has far surpassed anything done back then, but also preserving all the most relevant and even obscure hardware.

Just like back then, it's getting hard to choose which hardware upgrade to lust for the most! My dad had a Foundation card, when he passed his system went to a stepson. :( I already had dual PEB setups, a third would have been overkill, but I did so want that Foundation card. The Horizon seemed like the best upgrade back when, but just too much money when the cost was a week's paycheck and not really necessary for my TI-related business uses to justify it.

But still the Horizon itch remains... just because. One of many TI jewels I've never had the chance to possess but now I have a second chance to dream anew.

Everything you said is accurate. :)

Still, I do very much love being in the same physical room with other 99ers... talking shop, messing around with gear. When I was young, my dad and uncles would get together and mess around playing Parsec or dink around in BASIC... nothing crazy, but the group feel was there. In Kentucky, I had an old guy named Tom who I used to talk shop with. He still has a pretty epic dungeon with some very obscure stuff Id like to talk him out of one day.

For development and enthusiasm, though, these times really have no equal. We should all consider ourselves lucky to be here right now. I know I do.
