Very nice content and technically very well made, I'm looking forward to more episodes too!

You mentioned everyone being able to participate by giving feedback on upcoming games, should we give the feedback here on the forums or did you have another way of doing it in mind?

You may provide here if you'd like. Or you can message me through Atari Age. Or you can send me an email: mark@atarilynxhandycast.net.

Thank you for the kind words, and I look forward to your feedback :-)

I'm excited to start this podcast! Perfect timing for me--I'm a new Lynx owner. I just got my modded Lynx II and the Lynx SD flashcart while growing my collection of physical carts. It'll be a great experience to play the games along with podcast episodes.

Welcome to the Lynx community, Phlibbit. As you'll no doubt will gather from the introductory episode, I, too, am a relative newbie at the Lynx, having bought my Lynx II one year ago this month. I don't have the SD flashcart (yet), but I just picked up a McWill-modded Lynx II...I love it!

Thanks for your commitment to listen to the HandyCast, and I look forward to your feedback in the future!

Well... the Intellivision was not mentioned... it was all ATARI ATARI ATARI!

Haha!

You're off to a good start. I'm a former Lynx owner - should've kept it, may pick up another. Looking forward to your coverage. Entertaining, well put together. Subscribed.

Oh, and I wish you well on maintaining your proposed schedule and end date... Good luck with that. Things like planning and ambitious schedules never seem to work out as you plan with podcasting. Just sayin'

Thanks for the kind words about the HandyCast, Nurmix. And yes, my episode schedule is aggressive. But I'm the type that if I don't have a schedule, I won't do it, at least not regularly.

Oh, btw...what's an "Intellivision"? Is that a smart TV? ;)

Color me impressed if you stick to that schedule.

;)

And yes, in a manner of speaking, it is! It certainly makes for a smarter TV. And the advanced games challenge the player to use is mind! Just ask anyone in the Intellivision forums!

...I feel like I should be having this discussion with Ferg, about plinky 1 button 2600 games. The Lynx was certainly on a whole other level than the 2600. And yes, I like them both. But that doesn't mean I won't give Ferg a hard time on the next Intarivisions.

Speaking of which, when is the next IntAriVisions? I really enjoy the round-table discussions you all have on that podcast. I especially like the hard time you all give Ferg for his devotion to the 2600. But please don't tell him I said so...oh, what the hell...go on and tell him!

Ferg is a good sport about all of it, that's what makes it fun! We are recording the next one very soon. We were scheduled to last weekend but there were some circumstances that made us have to postpone it.

Subscribed! Great introductory episode  . I don't own a Lynx , but am considering it. Here's hoping this podcast doesn't cause a huge "Mark" effect. :-D

Thanks for the praise, sramirez...I value any input, especially if it helps me improve the podcast. And I doubt there will ever be a "Mark" effect; the HandyCast will ostensibly only run for three years, but Ferg's 2600gxg podcast has been running for nearly five years now. So he's had a chance to build up a huge audience, which I imagine does have an effect on the prices of that system's games. Still, we'll see how it goes. Thanks for you feedback, and please do consider picking up a Lynx soon...you won't regret it!

Yeah, I know it's easy to push Ferg's buttons about the limitations of the Atari VCS, but he takes it all in stride as a real trooper would. I work with him on the Please Stand By podcast, so I kinda know where he's coming from. And yes, I am very much looking forward to the next IntAriVisions episode...I never miss it. Thanks for the heads-up, nurmix!

Excellent show Mark  . Looking forward to the Blue Lightening episode!

Thank you so much, Mike...I really appreciate your feedback about the introductory episode. The Blue Lightning episode will be out Monday, so it's only four days away. If you have any memories or feedback about the game (or anything Lynx-related, for that matter), please do post it here or email me at mark@atarilynxhandycast.net so that I can include it in the episode. Take care, and keep listening!

Finished listening to the episode. Nicely done!

Thanks, TrekMD...I truly appreciate your kind words. To paraphrase Pseudolus in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum":

"And you, sir, are a gentleman and a procurer."

Don't know why that quote popped into my head. Take care, TrekMD!

Hi Mark, Just got done listening to the Handycast and I have a few things I wanted to mention maybe as a listener feedback, regardless if you read it on the air or not.

First let me say welcome, and thank you for your work this far. Now a bit about me;

My earliest gaming memory is sitting in a smoky dark aapparment in Brooklyn NY, my Uncles, clutching a copy of Demon Attack for the 2600, in awe of the mecha-space-dinosaur, watching my uncle and brother play Laser Blast.

Taking turns and joking about scores. I was the young one and, when I finally got a chance to play, Id normally die in one round, and go back to watching them play.

This continued on, every Sunday, the smell of my Nonas Sunday sauce and pasta coming from the kitchen, and watching my uncle and brother play for years to come.

From 2600 and Commodore64 to the master system, inevitably dieing instantly when Id get a pity turn.

One day, I noticed in a toys R us flyer, an add for the Atari Lynx. Imagine!?, a tiny handheld REAL system(mind you Id mess around with tiger type handhelds prior) that Would be mine and all mine...Id be the one playing, not watching. I could learn. I could improve ...

I mentioned it to my uncle, who, great fully, got me a lynx for Xmas that year. A couple months later on my birthday, my brother got me a Gameboy! And a handheld gamer was born.

While Im sure part of the reason my uncle got me the lynx was so I wouldnt bug them anymore for my turn, it was fine by me... I was playing. Not watching. So began my life long obsession with all things handheld, and especially my beloved Lynx.

These days Im an Executive Chef, long wack hours, with some gruling frustrating, and repetitive(yet magical) work. Podcasts are a God send. I gauge a podcast by how many times I stop what Im doing to listen.. or if the podcast just becomes background noise.

I have to say your podcast made me stop a few times. I like that you dont claim to be a pro life long collector with a minor in electronic engineering. You, like me just really dig the lynx.

If there was one criticism Id have is that the Handycast is a bit tooo heavy on musical breaks/intros/deadair. If it was packed a bit tighter it would flow just right.

Maybe a bit less script and more you, its always great to see a caster come out of their Ferg, you know?

Anyways thanks again for the podcast for keeping my Lynx on peoples minds and for making our days better.

Yep, Kaiju, I'll be working more from an outline than from a script when I record the next episode this weekend. And as for music, I won't be using as much of it (even the theme music is shorter), but I do plan to showcase the in-game music/themes whenever there is some to showcase (and Blue Lightning does have some). As I go along I'm sure the episodes will naturally get tighter. Thanks for your suggestions and for your feedback...I really appreciate them!
