Talking Forbidden Forest and Skate or Die on ARG Presents

Everyone knows Skate or Die is a great game, but if you haven't you absolutely owe it to yourself as a C64 fan to try out Forbidden Forest. There's really nothing else like it from the time period.

I agree on FF. Instant C64 classic, especially the intro theme music.

 

Only wish the had cut down the time interval of "celebration" music between levels.

The brilliant programer Paul Norman is also a professional musician and composer. He certainly showcased the music more than any other programmer ever and that is a wonderful thing. See the transcript of an interview below

Amazing what one can do with SEUCK! This one obviously is done with the hacked/unreleased horizontal version, compared to the original vertical scrolling version. I'm sure Cosmi had not minded releasing that as a sequel if it had been around in 1988-ish.

I first played Forbidden Forrest as a game included in one of those US Gold packs of like 100 games or whatever back in probably '88 or '89. I thought it looked INCREDIBLY BAD. I couldn't stand to look at it long enough to enjoy the game.

 

I was shocked to find out that the internet actually likes that game. It was delivered to me as shovelware, and I've always thought about it that way. I've never really gone back and played it or given it a chance. I still can't believe anyone ever looked at that game and thought "yeah, this looks good."

Skate or Die on the other hand - loved it. It was the X-Games before that was a thing.
