Original gameboy screens and Ps1 lasers

First off does anyone know of some affordable replacement lasers for the ps1 and psone if they are different. I have like 5 ps1's and 2 ps ones that need new lasers, but the damn things are almost worthless anyhow.

Next I have a GB I was going to fix last year and I destroyed it lol. I was going to fix the scan lines and when I pulled the rubber off the ribbon cable I did not realize it was stuck on hard and actually pulled the ribbon cable up. Do they sell screens w/the ribbon cable attached?

Being as I've never done it myself, I'm just going based off what my own previous understanding is and a bit of Google-Fu.

The only replacements I seem to find for PS1 CD drives are Chinese made, and my understanding is those suck. The pirces I saw were like $15-20, and you can buy a full PS1 for that price. The usual thing I see suggested is to just "buy another one and swap the parts". I think there are just so many of them and so cheap that a true "replacement" isn't really viable for a cheap amount. Basically buying a pile of them and swapping parts and cases seems the route here. Unsure about the PSOne as I can't find any concrete info on it.

From what I can see, the Original Game Boy (DMG) has the LCD pretty hardcore built into the motherboard itself. I can't seem to find a reliable replacement for just it. Apparently there's a heavy amount of soldering involved to remove one and then put a new one in. Another case of "Find a good one and swap it out".

Seems like both of those consoles feature the same issue... Replacement isn't suggested. Just swap it.

Yeah, well when all of them need the same part there isn't much swapping going to happen. I'll put them in a huge lot on Craigslist and say make offer. They can deal w/the garbage.

True dat!

...didn't you make clocks at some point? Wouldn't it be possible to do some sort of silly "PS1 Clock" that uses the system to house the clock bits or something? Either hide the face under the top opening piece or on the opening piece itself? Just a thought~

I realize there's not really a way to mount it, but you'd probably find someone interested in the weirdness of it.

They would probably make a nice piggy bank.

You know this would be super easy to do on GB. I have two open right now. The one is completely screwed, not by me, but this screen is bad both horizontal and vertical hardly any lines show LOL. The other one I screwed up last year I was able to get almost fixed. It still has 5 dead vertical lines that do not seem to want to fix.

I should rob the speakers and sell them or keep one if it will fit a GBC as I have a green one that needs a speaker. I can then sell the back pcb's as those are good. I can cut out the battery storage box and put back together. Remove the power button and dremel it a bigger slot. Then the battery cover will act as an opening to get the money out of. My boys would go crazy over them LOL.

While searching for consoles on ebay I came across this https://www.ebay.com/itm/Officially-Licensed-Nintendo-Game-Boy-Money-Box-Piggy-Bank-Sealed-New-in-Box/323055821371?hash=item4b37a0a23b:g:SW4AAOSwZvRaeP-5
