Wbjayhawk
HI All, New to AtariAge. I just purchased a Prom Blaster from a local estate sale in my hometown. To be honest, I purchased it purely because of the name, and I make it a point to buy anything that is intriguing that I've never seen before. Reading these old forums, I'm glad I did! I'm not a giant Atari guy, but wanted to share and see if anyone had anything to add? My guess is I'll be selling it at some point, but would like some feedback from anyone who knows anything about it! I couldn't wait to come home and let everyone here know what I found! I think I posted some pics below...(I hope it worked !). Thanks for your input everyone!
Flojomojo
That's an awesome find, well done. More about it here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/166166-prom-blaster/ This is the place to sell it if you choose to do so.
Wbjayhawk
Thanks...I saw that also and geeked out on the law part of it for most of the afternoon. Per my wife's request I just listed on ebay...she unfortunately doesn't get why I paid what i did for a piece of plastic in her mind. Would this site be better to sell it on you think? Flojomojo
Is this your listing? https://www.ebay.com/itm/HOLY-GRAIL-ATARI-2600-1983-JS-A-PROM-BLASTER-CARTRIDGE-DUPLICATOR-COPIER-NR-/202236466119 Hey, now it's on atariage AND ebay, best of both worlds. You have more feedback there than here, so ebay is probably the best place, good luck. I suspect there is a small but dedicated audience for this kind of thing. CPUWIZ
Cool, no UR $1299.99 BIN reserve not met auction.
Albert
Very interesting that the Prom Blaster supports 8K bankswitched carts. Would love to see one of the programmable "blank" carts, but I assume you don't have any of those. I'm quite curious to see how much this auction sells for. ..Al

jhd
It is exciting to finally see one of those legendary devices. I wonder how many of these made it out of the warehouse after the lawsuit. Apparently none were officially sold. Is there any chance that it included a box or any type of documentation? There were supposedly nine games available with/for the Prom Blaster, but no source lists the titles. Are you located in/near Chicago? Wbjayhawk
Unfortunately no box, paperwork, or blank cartridges. In fact the only other item there remotely related to gaming was an old Texas Instruments home computer. I even dug around for the original ac adapter (Im assuming that is what the port on the rear is for?) but couldnt find anything that fit. I live just outside of Wichita KS.
BigO
Cool. Never heard of it. I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant to click into this topic for fear of it being a homebrew game discussion.
fabman99
Hi all, My take on the metal cover on the blank side port is so it can't be used for copying carts. Did they do that to disable them since they lost the lawsuit ? and if you remove it will it still work as intended ?
CPUWIZ
If anything, the metal contact is likely the "Write" line for the EPROM inside the custom cart.
CPUWIZ
How does the bankswitching work? TTL? Likely, mine are NIB, so I don't know what the inside looks like.

Andromeda Stardust
Cool. Never heard of it. I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant to click into this topic for fear of it being a homebrew game discussion. I clicked it thinking it was some new slease ball homebrew about what happens on prom night! Pleasantly surprised. Never heard of this device but I imagine the creator got sued into oblivion. Flojomojo
Looks like you're getting over $200 for this old thing! You must tell us what you paid for it someday.
