flux
I just received a Team Tap I ordered on ebay. It's missing one of the four rubber feet on the bottom, and another one is very clearly not located in its proper spot and is only partially covering the screw hole. I didn't order it expecting it to be new or anything like that, and until the video cable I ordered gets here I can't even test it out to begin with, but my question is this: Is there any compelling reason one of these would need to be taken apart? Is there some common way where they become non-functional and someone swaps out some capacitors or something?
Austin
It might not have been taken apart. The adhesive on rubber feet can come loose over time and these things are over 20 years old now. I've had countless rubber feet come off of various devices I own, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same kind of thing with your Team Tap.
+madman
What Austin said. There isn't much to go wrong in a team tap, highly unlikely it's been taken apart.
Machine
I would test it cuz the first one I got(used) did not work.

Machine
Yeah I Know, I was just pointing out they are known to fail..... Pretty sure that's exactly what he's going to do, as he mentioned he can't yet test it.
+Stephen Moss
Is there any compelling reason one of these would need to be taken apart? Is there some common way where they become non-functional and someone swaps out some capacitors or something? One reason to take it apart is curiosity as to what it inside it, I took mine apart to reverse engineer the schematic as I could not find one. There are no capacitors in it, just a couple of IC's, 6 resistors and around 25 diodes. I don't think I have ever hard of one failing, unless the wrong power unit was connected to a Jag while the team tap was connected thereby potentially damaging the IC's I would think the most likely cause of any failure would be either a bad solder joint or broken wire in the cable. Machine
I took a closer look at mine and it looks like it may have gotten wet before I ended up with it. Just guessing, but the screws show rust.
