This weeks choice is a tricky one.... Hard to get started but once you get the hang of it.... it is a decent game.

BUT.... why take a GREAT game in River Raid and make it complex and less fun? I am talking to you Activision!

I post my first score and I was thinking there is something strange then I realized that the meters are different in my Image than the one posted by you, so I proceed to download the rom from the link that you provided and is the same rom that I have with indicators in yellow and red ( the posted by you are yellow and blue )

Refueling over the river section is hard...

River Raid II (A): 20,250.

I see what they tried to do in this game. It kind of works. I have this cart for some time now and never bothered to sink my teeth into it. Now at least I know how it's played. I'm not good at it, but that's just me :-). Thanks again, High Score Club!

I remember my cousin had a game he called River Raid 2 but it was another game. It was probably a pirate game with the label River Raid 2.

Actually, I liked that game. I remember the river/ocean/sky? changed collour often.

I found the page on Atarimania.com with the River Raid 2: http://www.atarimani...d-ii_14547.html

I don't know the name of the original cartridge. This was the River Raid 2 I knew from the 80s.

Personally, I find this variation easier than the B variation, since with the B variation you have to steer your shots, which can lead you into the path of an enemy or their shots.

59200 points. for many years I avoid playing this game because it doesn't feel like River Raid ( River Raid is my favorite game in Atari 2600, sorry Dig Dug  :( ) but now with different approach, It is not a bad game, I am starting enjoying, more after the torture it suppose to be play Space Jockey.

I don't even know the takeoff procedure.

HSC's gonna be a low-priority iyem on this week's "to-do" list.

To takeoff, hold button down and jet will move, keep holding. When speed accelerates at last 1/4 of deck pull back and hold until the altitude is at max.

Played on: STELLA - PAL Rom.  Microsoft Gamepad.

Never played this.  I like it to be honest.  I like the extra bit of complexity.  Playing it on a Gamepad sucks balls.  In fact, playing on anything other than the real hardware is a bit stinky imo ;) .  I hope my cx40 usb adapter arrives before the end of Week 7.   I think I need a Harmony!  :)

I found timing your shots so the enemy aircraft "fly into" your bullets, rather than you crossing in front of them and firing (hunting them), really helped my rhythm .
