FDOS Posted March 29, 2018 Share Posted March 29, 2018 Topic: TI BASIC Plus & FinalGROM 99 My current priority is TI BASIC Plus (TIB+) development using FinalGROM 99 (FG99) as the enhancement environment for TI BASIC(+) programs runing in VDP memory or in GRAM space provided by FG99. My initial plan was to use FG99 as a replacement for my 80K GramKracker. This idea can't currently work except as replacement for a 56K GK, due to non-availability of external GROM/GRAM at GROM/GRAM 1 & 2. I asked Ralph about this as a possible upgrade and a easy way to convert GK files to FG99 format last October. He said he thought the GK to FG99 would be easy and that he would investigate the other. I don't know how long this might take, so I've been investigating alternate methods. One method that I'm sure will work will have to wait until I finish (partially finish) this current development that is being done using my two TI-99/4A consoles equipped with F18A VDP, USB keyboard adapters, and one of 3 x NanoPEB and 1 x CF7A+ sidecars. I'm using a Dell Latitude 2.70Ghz E6430 i5 laptop and docking station with real RS232 serial and parallel ports (lots of other usefull stuff) to provide TI99HDX and TI99Dir support. Naturally, switching back and forth between TI and PC is via a 4 port KVM, wireless keyboard & mouse, and Dell 19" VGA flatscreen. The other method requires external file storage or all TIB+ programs will be limited to 32K or 8K depending on the use of MSAVE6 or just MSAVE. MSAVE6 will require the move of TI EA to GRAM 7. This is done with a GK utility, and is fully documented in the GK manual. I don't know if "Chaining" TIB+ programs in GRAM will be any faster than TIB programs in VDP if the external file storage is a RAM disk. However, the ability of FG99 to "chain" GRAM files on SD may be a clear winner. What this all means right now, is that I could sure use some help determining how to convert my many TIB+ programs that are currenly in GK format, but need to be in FG99 format. Can anyone out there help me with this????? HELP!!! What would be really Great is an UltimateGROM 99. It would emulate a 16 bank HSGPL card, so the first page would be the RML selection screen.
