doctorclu
I'm wondering if there were any Atari 2600 roms that were nothing but pages of text? Why would a person want this? To tell an intro story, or maybe to have an instruction manual in a rom library. Just text, which a person "turns the page" by hitting the fire button or something similar.

WARPDRIVE has many pages of full screen scrolling marquee text, it is used just like you described to tell stories, in this case providing motivational status updates as a rating system as you make progress. You can reuse the engine in the program to tell other stories, it scrolls regular text in BASIC data statements like these: data textdata "PRGE 2016 ROCKS" data textdata9 "practice this " data textdata8 "game! take aim!" data textdata7 "focus your mind" data textdata6 "good progress! " data textdataB "You learned to " data textdataC "aim! keep it up" data textdatad "2 win the game!" The console switches change the color of the text and the ship.
