+acadiel
What kind of diode, and how is the best way to hook it up? Anyone else do it? Got a tray of these for free.

marc.hull
In a practical application it doesn't matter. A 1n914 will do for most low power SRAMs. 3.6 minus .6 is 3 which is greater than most if not all CMOS SRAM thresholds. Just replace the line resistor with the diode so current cannot flow from the PEB to the battery. You can leave the load resistor in place or remove it and remake the battery connection to ground. Look at the HRD 3000 manual on WHT for a drawing. Spells it out correctly.
