It will make your life a lot easier - failing that you can buy a TKII XEGS adaptor and use a ps2 keyboard How would the keyboard be used to program the cart? You need a keyboard to play most of the computer/non arcade games, and to start the flash burning software that's bundled with the .ATR file that serves as the wrapper for the cart image. Basically, you boot the .ATR file via SIO2PC or an SIO2SD. It loads into a wrapper program that tells you to hot-swap the Maxflash cart you want to reprogram. You swap the cart in (and restart if it locks up) then hit Enter to start the flash process, which re-writes the memory on the Maxflash cart with whatever cart image you picked.
