Baby Pac-Man

Spoken like someone else who has owned one ;)

It was amazing to me how much Baby Pac-Man ownership is not dissimilar to having, say, an older Alfa-Romeo - absolutely fantastic when they work, but if something goes wrong (which happens frequently enough with either one to be memorable), your weekend just took a nosedive into repairland.

Or any Triumph/MG convertible...."if there ain't oil UNDER it, there ain't oil IN it!" :-D

Came across this beaut yesterday at one of my local arcades! Can't wait for this game to be available for purchase in the AA Store!

Very nice!

The Morristown Game Vault in Morristown, N.J. has one and its normally up and running. This is the only arcade that I know that has one that is usually running. I recently played it (January of this year).

Just got my box in from Marc.

Again, I have to say, both Marc and Atariboy2600 did some AMAZING work on the box and artwork, respectively.

Thinking of 3D printing a pink cartridge case to go with this....

Well, it looks like the Pink cart is out.

My 3D printer had died a few weeks ago, and I replaced it with a dual extruder model. It had a BUNCH of issues (it was a GEEETECH A20M 3D), so I returned it. I actually found a 3D printer with *four* extruders (i.e. 4-color) that was the same price as my original 3D printer. Crane M3D Quad - got it in today (I'm home sick... slight case of Vertigo this morning, it lasts about 4 hours). This one trips my breaker whenever I turn it on. I've been calling support since 1:00. Nobody got back to me. So I'm packing this printer up too and sending it back.

I think I'm going to wait a while before I get anything else 3D printer related. These last two experiences left a bad taste in my mouth.

Awesome stuff. What's the best way to get in touch with Marc these days? I've sent him a couple emails over the past few months about making some boxes for me but haven't heard back. I know he's not operating through his web shop anymore but I used the email address Al gave me.

Hi guys:

sixersfan105: I usually contact Marc via PM here on AA.

BBA: Thanks, nice looking cart... I need to get a good 3D printer. Can anyone recommend a good dual-extruder model?

MrBeefy: Hopefully when Al is ready and able he can add it to the store (I hope?)

Not a chance - Baby Pac-Man isn't even in the same universe as Rikki & Vikki - none of my games are. I had to end up asking him how he got so many colors in 320B mode, with transparency on. (Normally you would have 2 colors in 2 palettes, and possibly a third if the bitmap colors were set up in a very specific way). What he did was nothing short of astonishing.

Maybe in terms of technical accomplishment, but not in fun. I can't tell you how many hours of enjoyment I've gotten out of your games over the years. Seriously. Your arcade ports and my Atari XL are pretty much the only things I play these days when I want arcade games.

While I'm absolutely gobsmacked at Tailchao's achievement (the game is just jaw droppingly gorgeous, it really is), that doesn't take away one whit for how fun all your arcade ports are. They've pretty much taken a niche console and made it into a daily played kinda thing.

Credit where credit is due, etc.
