Favorite sports game?

Basketball, Bowling and Super Football are easily my three favorite sports titles on the console, and Double Dunk isn't far behind them either. Also, props to Realsports Boxing; it's pretty button-mashy, but it looks terrific (gotta love that cheering crowd in the foreground!), and hey, if nothing else, it was the only (new release) title to carry the "Realsports" moniker in the Tramiel-era.

I wish there was a 2600 baseball game I could truly love. Home Run is interesting due to its primitiveness, and kinda fun when that's taken into account. I sorta like it despite all the reasons I probably shouldn't. And Pete Rose Baseball certainly looks great, and the big name-license is very cool, though it's more of a curio than anything given the events that transpired not long after its release. (Bad timing, Absolute!)

I'd go for Home Run. I love what an abstract and strange representation of baseball it is, complete with ball steering! Bowling is fun, Mini Golf is good if you count that (it's sports-like :)), and Basketball seems pretty fast and furious but I haven't put much time into it. You know what I dig a lot though is the volleyball in Video Olympics. That is really fun.

My top sportsgames are these here:

- Decathlon (Atari VCS-2600)

- Track & Fields (Arcade-Cabinet and later also in M.A.M.E. Emulator on PC)

- Activision Decathlon (C-64)

- Jimmy Connors Pro Tennis Tour (Super-NES)

- Microprose Soccer (C-64)

- Speedball 2 (Amiga)

- Winter Games (C-64)

These sportsgames i played again and again and again in former times and even now from time to time. :)

Activision's Tennis and Ice Hockey, Realsports Volleyball and Realsports Soccer... at least those are the ones I've played that I thought were really good.

They're maybe a little more "sports inspired" than straight-up sports games.

Careful with that distinction, you could almost technically say that about any 2600 sports game
