Hyperblast, how does it expand its playfield to fullscreen (ish)

Any other games do the same trick (tired, long hot day)

Wide playfield, 240 scan lines? Just guessing: I'm not familiar with the title.

Nothing special going on here - only standard width DMA and 232 of 240 scanlines for the display.

 

What hasn't been done yet is using the scanline 240 exploit to get a score display going outside the normal screen using the PMs, though it'd be next to useless on probably anything except PAL TV with the right Vheight setting and wouldn't work on most emuators.

oh, so simple...Thought it was some special little trick..

 

For a shooter like Hyperblast it gives a nice big tall playfield which is very much more arcadey...Just wondered..
