TI-99/4A + 32K + Cassette Player/Recorder - load Assembler programmes

(by Tonny Brouwer)

See Facebook for details:

The disk has more programs, but for this exercise use: OLD DSK1.TAPELOADER to save to CS1

and "Option B 1200 Bd. Transfer to put the assembler program to Tape.

Might want to pull details from FB and post them here. More than a few folks won't use it on principle, and others like me have had issues with Facebook killing their accounts and other shenanigans. And of course, you'll never talk to a human if there's a problem.

Could someone please post english instructions on how to do this process?

I have (finally) a 32k board on my TI, and access to all emulators.

I do not own a physical disk drive yet.

I would love nothing more then to be able to load Flappybird or TIRex Runner from CS1.

Any help is welcome.

That's a good question, I only can test in weekends as I am not close to my cassette recorder and TI-99/4A.

Need to investigate how the emulators save the file to the cassette-player format (or if directly can be saved to a cassette player)

or a sound file and it need to be converted to the cassette player.

(PS. it is also possible to load .mp3 / .mp4 sound files from a mobile phone (using a line-amplifier?) via the cassette cable into the TI-99/4A

There is somewhere online a directory with those sound files (but these are not Assembler files).

For the Assembler games

Normally the process is done as follows:

1. Someone with a TI-99/4A with a PEB system and diskdrive + cassette player to save the files

(this was Tonny Brouwer who helped me to save the files in 1988)

2. the end-user with only a TI-99/4A + 32K + cassette player to load the files.

(this is how I started with my TI)

3x interesting programs that can load assembler programes/games with a TI-99/4a+32k+tape recorder

1. 1200 baud tape loader (Tonny Brouwer/The Netherlands).

2. Tape-IT game loader (Col Christensen/Australia)

3. Funnelweb (Will McGovern/Australia) (Extended basic 32K tape loader)

* PDF with different options to load Assembler programs / games via the cassette port.

Today I finally had some time to do the videos of the 3x solutions that exist (see above in the thread)

Globeron, can you capture the solitaire game with the protection to .dsk or wav?

@jrhodes (no clue why I never replied, might be busy).  I remember the Solitaire tape, but I think I sold/shipped it to Ciro if I remember correctly?). @ti99iuc ?

and I cannot remember if there was a backup. It was a good solitaire game I remember.
