legeek
Hi all, Here is my take on End Labels for 5200 Carts. They are similar but different to glazball's excellent labels. What do you think? Cheers, Ben

legeek
After printing them out, I noticed the blue color was a bit off, and it bothered me that the labels were not the full length of the top of the cartridge... So I made a few adjustments... Here is a link to a PDF of three pages of labels. Here is a link to a Zipped PSD file if you want to make your own Text Style labels. Cheers! +-^CrossBow^-
My only concern and the reason I've not downloaded and printed any of these end labels is because I question how well they will actually stick to the textured surface of the end of the carts over time? I'm going to go through the trouble of this if they will be peeling up and start curling from the ends in a month. Are you using some type of strong adhesive to prevent that? +Cafeman
I have the same question. Labels look really nice.

I'm going to go through the trouble of this if they will be peeling up and start curling from the ends in a month. Are you using some type of strong adhesive to prevent that? This is a good question! I used this glossy sticker paper, and cut them out by hand: https://www.amazon.com/Milcoast-Shipping.../dp/B01FWVUVI2 I made N64 end labels using the same paper in March of this year, and they are staying on the carts quite well. In both cases, I did have to press down on some of the labels an additional time to fix sections where I did not press down hard enough the first time. Like you said though, 5200 carts are textured -- vs. N64 carts, which are smooth -- So I guess I'll report back on July 1st, to see how they hold up? bah
When I made end labels years back, I found that the laser printed ink was less than permanent. After a couple of years they scratched and I had to re-make them with a clear laminate top layer. These are still on my carts. Note also that alcohol can help clean finger prints and the dirt you can't see in the texture so that the labels stick better. Oh for sure I would use a cotton ball with some ISP on it to wipe em down good first. But I'm just speaking on experience in that I have some homebrew carts that I've received over the years where their corners are starting to peel up. It was really bad on my first run release of Berzerk VE that I got at CGE 2k2 I believe it was. I've had to spray adhesive that sucker down about 3 times since I've had it. I believe it is starting to happen with my 7800 anni carts as well....
Bill Lange
Thanks for making these labels. It gave me a chance to go through my collection. I got a few dups and a few trips.

jefffulton
I have the sticky paper (just arrived from Amazon). Do I print from the images or do you have a Postscript file like a PDF that has to be used?

unoclay
these are great! only problem is that they now remove the chance of grab-bag surprise when i reach into my 5200 shelf and pull a game...only to find its (naturally) 1 of 4 Super Breakout copies
legeek
OK it's been a month, let's see how the labels are holding up... Here are most of my 5200 Carts and as you can see in the bottom two photos, two of the labels are loose either on the top or bottom. Three of my carts are not pictured, and one of those also has a loose section. Most are holding up well. I'll probably use a little bit of rubber cement, to fix the three that got loose. legeek
UPDATE! In honor of the upcoming 5200 homebrews and the newly listed 8-bit conversions in the AA store — not to mention the pending emptying of my wallet — I’ve updated my end labels to match. You can see them below and download them here. Here again is a link to a Zipped PSD file if you want to make your own Text Style labels. +laz455
These labels look great ! I would venture and have these printed on vinyl type paper, take them to a local printer. I'm sure they can print on a plain sheet ,then you can cut them yourself.

Hand cut really takes away from them.
Omega-TI
These are the end labels I've been using. I still need (as time allows) to re-create the labels for one Parker Brothers and one Activision cartridge. In the end though, I'll probably sell all my individual cartridges. I'm going to need to downsize in the future and with the multi-cart I never really use the individual cartridges anymore.
Omega-TI
Die cut would be best. Hand cut really takes away from them. A ruler and X-Acto knife does an okay job. The photo of my end labels above was done using the method shown in my blog entry << HERE >>
