ColorComputerStore
Just got a Mac SE. Noticed that top and bottom of finder don't scratch as far as I expected. Looked at a few photos online and saw some units with same issue, while others used more of the vet. Doesn't look squashed, but just seems too much black space below and top of the finder. Bad caps? Thanks
Flojomojo
A photo would be helpful here. My first thought when you said you "picked up a Mac SE"? 17 lbs. I had a padded nylon and Velcro backpack case for mine, I lugged it from college to home a few times a year.
ColorComputerStore
Similarto this one... https://ancientelectronics.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/macse1.jpg expecting it to be more like this... http://appletothecore.me/files/sd2usb_0039.jpg
Flojomojo
That looks pretty minor to me... considering what you would have to do to fix it, I'd leave it alone. The thing is 30 years old, let it die gracefully. Finding media and/or networking this thing are going to be infinitely more frustrating than a little bitty screen offset. Just my opinion! I have served my time with beige Macs and no longer partake.
fimbulvetr
Nah, that is fine. Bad caps give much different symptoms. Check out 68kmla.org. . . . You can adjust the picture if you are comfortable with messing with pots and have plastic screwdrivers to do the job.
