Wyluli Wolf
I like this idea. I have the Space Cactus Canyon patch. It was cool getting a patch for reaching the high score that was set. Patches for home-brews is a cool idea. The Activision (and other games) patch idea is good as well. I think on the Activision patches I would prefer a completely new design versus a replica of the originals. This would completely avoid confusion plus it just seems right since they would be new....just my opinion.
retrogoober
Okay everybody, I *think* I've decided to start with 2 patches for Phoenix and Berserk, talking to the embroidery service about what looks how in the end product, leaning towards %100 embroidered, so far I have come up with 2 design starters from stock image files, thoughts so far? Berserk is just some core elements I want to include, I think all 3 elements will look sharp in embroidery. Text - I was thinking 'High Score Club' for each? Anything desired more kitchy like the Activision patches? 'Intruder Alert'? 'Phoenix Annihilator'? This service has skilled graphic artists who can customize according to the embroidery strengths, so working with them, wanted to check here first Thinking each patch will have a color border, perhaps multiple colors/layers? Feedback most welcome! Lee Edited July 30, 2018 by retrogoober
retrogoober
PS also not eliminating possibility of using the jaw-dropping original Phoenix art IF it will translate to embroidery Lee

retrogoober
Okay, thinking this for Berzerk patch, will have a BLUE and ORANGE embroidered border all around 4"X2", may go to 5". ALL items would be embroidered, I may go with larger font, an need to delete apostrophe. Now to justify the cost I need to see more interest honestly Should I start a new thread? Thanks everyone,if interest not there no biggy, I just like the idea of re-starting Atari patch hi score culture:) Lee Edited August 1, 2018 by retrogoober
retrogoober
Okay, the more I look at this, and discover the manufacturing options, I could conceivably use all these elements inside a patch cut to the SHAPE of one of the robots, that would be much cooler, especially with an embroidered border, let me check on price
Rogerpoco
I imagine this is a dead thread, but interesting. I've started collecting the patches recently, kinda wondered why they looked so new... At least they weren't terribly expensive, lol, oh well. I REALLY think making requirements and patches for games that didn't have them, and possibly creative new requirements on existing patch games would be neat, I'd be interested. Person making them could even conduct a HSC, to encourage people to shoot for the scores.
