+sixersfan105 Posted July 13, 2018 Share Posted July 13, 2018 Hey guys, so I came across an Atari 2600 Junior console available for purchase that has been A/V modded but the output jack is a 3.5mm jack that works with a 3.5mm to male composite cable. I've never come across this on an Atari (or any other video game) console before. Has anyone seen this or done this mod? Should I be wary of this mod for any reason? When you do the mod, you connect the video to the female jack where it matches the male end. However, if you go out and buy another cable, it has to have the same configuration or, as you said, yellow will not connect to video. I think spacing of the different contacts can be different on the jack as well if they are in a diffeent order, so you can get two contacts on the male touching the same contact on the female, or vice versa. The worst part is that the video may be in place of and/or overlap with the ground. Then you get no video no matter what, as there is no ground cable. Same thing could also happen with audio, since L/R audio are usually merged. Basically, you need to know the order of the contacts on the female jack and find out the type of A/V cable that matches it and order that one. BTW, I know because I had one with a configuration that seemed difficult to find from a reliable source, so it was easier for me to drill three holes and spend an hour resoldering in an RCA three-port. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
