I bought an 800XL to give to my son for Christmas, but while I was over at his house the other day I found a potential problem.

He just bought a 72" 4K TV and it only has four HDMI inputs on the back.  Is there a cable to go to HDMI from an 800XL, and

does it matter if the TV is 4K?  Will I need to buy some kind of adapter box?

There are some converter boxes that will take an analog signal and upscale. There was a thread on the forums here not too long ago comparing several of the cheap Chinese upscalers available on eBay, maybe 6 months or a year ago? I can't recall details but the bottom line is, they work but results may vary in terms of image quality.

72"4K. Won't the A8 pixels be the size of a dime....?

Get a nice not too big CRT just for the Atari and enjoy lag-free true vintage gaming and computing.

I guess what I'm wanting to know...

has anyone hooked up a n Atari to a 4K TV and if so, what did it look like.  There is no sense in buying a converter box if it won't work on these TV's.

Which means I'll look for a smaller flat panel with a S-Video input to add to the computer.  I also haven't decided if I'm going to give him my spare

SIO2USB or my 8 meg flash cartridge.  (I don't want to be supplying him with disks and fixing a 1050 drive.)

He grew up in the late 70's, early 80's, first on a 2600 then on an 800.  He and his older brother wore out our old 27" TV.
