Created in QBasic; can be compiled for newer PC's with QB64. Edited July 14, 2018 by pacman000
Shawn
Would be neat to see what could be used from the code to port it to the 7800.

The Usotsuki
Well, some of the earliest RPGs were written partially or totally in BASIC (such as the first Ultima)...
Gamemoose
Huh...people still using BASIC. Dang cool! I remember there were programming books back in the day that had the story, maps and code in the book. I had a Color Computer and my BASIC knowledge wasn't all that hot to port the code. Rainbow Magazine had a series that went through the steps of creating an RPG. It really went into the minutae, like how long torches burn for along with food consumption. General adventuring maintenance from 1st edition AD&D and the sort.

Don't be hatin' on gorrilla.bas . That game was really fun to play when it was the only game like software on some school computers back when.

jhd
I remember there were programming books back in the day that had the story, maps and code in the book. I had a Color Computer and my BASIC knowledge wasn't all that hot to port the code. Same here. I remember trying to develop a hybrid RPG-text adventure game on the Coco, with significant chunks of code (and design elements) taken from other sources. Unfortunately, it became just too large and unwieldy to continue adding to.
