moknbyrdx1
I was just told the Wizard of Wor cartridge, I sold on Ebay, was a fake. Is this a new thing now? How can one tell if a cartridge is fake? Thanks. :-) Michael
jaybird3rd
Could you post a picture, or a link to the auction?
Tempest
I seriously doubt that. No one would bother faking a 5200 cartridge unless it was BBSB or something valuable. But please do post a picture.

BassGuitari
Wizard Of Wor for the 5200 would have to be one of the most random cartridges out there, for any system, to fake. Real copies aren't even worth what it would take to make a fake. Great game, though. As it happens, my wife and I were just playing it a couple of days ago. moknbyrdx1
Awesome game. Yes. He said the game didn't work, which I understand, but to accuse it of being fake is what threw me.

The Lizard King
He's supposed to mail it back. Haven't gotten it yet. But will. Thanks. You're about to get scammed. He's not returning the one that you sent him originally.

smbaker
I've received $4 counterfeit vintage ICs before. You'd think there wouldn't be much profit motive in that, but it must be sufficient. It'll be interesting to read what monknbyrdxl finds when the cartridge comes back. Crack it open, look inside. Maybe someone repaired/replaced the PCB at some point during the cartridge's history? Maybe the buyer just doesn't know what he's talking about and the cartridge is original and works fine? Regardless, eBay has a reputation for siding with buyers. The Lizard King
I told him to mail it back first. I'll make sure before refunding. It won't matter. eBay will refund him his money, and you'll be out of yours. Sorry I can't give you better news on this, but I've seen it scores of times. DON'T SELL ON EBAY. eBay sides with the buyers on nearly every dispute.

Neogeoman
I agree that game is 100 percent authentic that buyer knows nothing about video games. Probably used it as an excuse to return it
bohoki
ask the buyer what evidence he has that leads him to the conclusion it is fake it may not work due to lousy contact that could be cleaned with an eraser
moknbyrdx1
His evidence was the board was tiny with a black glob. I told him CBS game boards were like that. Even sent his shots of, Blue Print, Mountain King and my original Wizard of Wor. Didn't change that it didn't work. Whatever. Send it back. If I could test it I would but my 5200 is crapped out.
