Which DRAMS for 600XL 64K mod?

Just what it says on the tin, folks.

 

I've got a pretty sweet, never-used 600XL sitting in a box begging to be modded. I know it's a simple mod in terms of the actual work required on the machine - just wondering what types of DRAMs I need to track down.

 

Thanks for any pointers in the right direction.

These chips from Jameco via Amazon worked great for me in a 600XL.

The TMS variety can be found easily on eBay. I used them in my 600XL and 65XE.

I agree with using TI DRAMs. However, if you have no plans to upgrade it with a U1MB, you can do the Antonia upgrade and bypass the 16k-->64k altogether.

You can actually choose three speed variants.

The funny thing is that the fastest ones (-10) are also the cheapest ones. I don’t think the seller really understands the speed numbering....because the slowest are also not the most expensive....LOL.

Naturally I ordered the -10 variant.

 

I have no idea if these are real or counterfeits, at the price it’s worth the risk. And counterfeits can work just fine.

 

Shipping to the Netherlands it was cheaper to order 2 times 2 pieces than 1x4 so I did that. Often they will still ship them in one package
