I'm in the planning phases of my first Atari programming project in over 30 years, and I need a little help on file transport.

I really have no idea about graphics file conversion. Does anyone know of a tool that will take graphics created on the Mac and prep them for use on Atari, including file formats? Back in the day, I would use GraphicConverter for most everything, but that's been bought by someone and who knows what it does anymore.

I see there is a Windows application that is expressly for creating Atari graphics, but I own no Windows machines.

As to text conversion, will the Atari choke on a straight TXT export? I would imagine these days, even the most stripped down export relies on some UTF standard that the A8 will have no clue about. Any insights?

Thanks,

J.

Bumping this for any potential help on the graphics side. I have the text part under control.

I'd love to use a Mac to do the "heavy lifting" of graphics creation, then convert the results to an Atari format (7+16, or maybe 15+16).

Any ideas?

Thanks,

J.

I am also using my Mac for developing but couldn't find enough tools to create everything natively under Mac OS X.

So I am using Eclipse/WUDSN/mads natively under Mac OS X. Everything else is used with wine (3.03 stable).

Character (font) editor: CharPad - http://www.subchrist...CharPad1_83.zip(couldn't get the latest version 2.0 beta to run with wine)

Sprite (P/M editor): SpritePad - http://www.subchrist...ritePad1_81.zip(same as with charpad, latest version doesn't run)

converted to ATARI format with: Graph2Font - http://g2f.atari8.in...4.0.2.3_full.7z

graphics: ATARI graphics studio - http://madteam.atari...o/uzytki/ags.7z

ATR-generator: makeATR - http://serious-dial....keATR_v0.06.zip

Sound: Raster Music Tracker - http://raster.infos..../rmt/rmt128.zip

There appears to be a command line utility for the Mac that will convert text files to ASCII - have a look at the iconv command.

After you get it to ASCII, the Atari will probably be more willing to accept it, though you may need to run it though an ASCII->ATASCII conversion program (maybe not going to the Atari, but possibly coming back from the Atari to the Mac?)
