Game I/O Apple //e Extension Cable

Recommended Posts

I have a joystick for the //e which has a large 16-pin plug that wont fit into the //e's rear case pop-outs.

Do you guys have any idea where I can find a cable to extend this Game I/O port (to make it external) without building one?

So, are you trying to go through port something like port 2 to connect to the 16 pin socket?

Have you tried port 5? The hole is twice as wide.

But if you don't even want to open the case, you can try these: (note: I haven't tried any of these myself)

You'd probably have better luck finding a pin converter adapter/dongle and just using the //e's 9-pin joystick port.

I doubt there were many 16-pin extension cords (except for gameport splitters/expanders like the Paddle Adapple, which had their own ribbon cables to allow for external mounting) since those connect directly to the motherboard, and most 16-pin joysticks were designed with the II and II+ in mind. Many joysticks came with adapters later on when the //e and //c came out and the 9-pin port became standard.
