tschak909
Against all of my better judgement, I've decided to release an alpha build of PLATOTerm for Atari. It's locked at 1200bps, but should work everywhere. No hardware flow control yet. README inside zip PLATOTerm-atari-alpha.zip Please download and test. It's a bootable autorun mydos disk. There is also an installer for hard disks on there (INSTALL.COM). To remind everyone: PLATOTerm is the terminal emulator used to access PLATO online services like IRATA.ONLINE and CYBER1.ORG. -Thom
tschak909
A bit more about this particular build: This is what I call a "diet" build. I stripped it all down and got it to about 17K of binary space, and the CC65 handler is baked in statically, as is the graphic driver. There is no mouse functionality in this one. There are no preferences. It's locked at 1200bps, but I wanted to see just how thin I could make it. I was able to remove approximately 8K work of code that had accumulated, and hopefully the lessons here can be merged back into the main tree. -Thom
manterola
It is working with esp8266-01 wifi thing (Rverter handler). I am impressed Thanks!
tschak909
Fantastic, I am glad Thank you so much, for testing! -Thom
a8isa1
I also connected using R-verter driver plus nodeMCU board running Zimodem 3.4 firmware. However, this will be my last test unless/until I fix my s-video cable. This is my first time connecting to a PLATO "network" with my Atari. Thank you! -SteveS
Kyle22
It shows the logo at the top, but seems to lock up. I tried the default 850 ROM R: Handler (BEEEEEEP) and the Altirra 850 R: Handler (that works perfectly for my BBS). This is under SDX 4.47 on Incognito with 850 to UDS-10. Please note that the R: system works FLAWLESSLY with the BBS. Ideas?
tschak909
Expanded XL? If you're running a U1MB, set it to stock. There is an issue where the IRQ handler is overlapping into the extended memory bank. -Thom
tschak909
@Kyle22 have you tried booting the disk? -Thom
mr-atari
Just to report it here, but you already know.Lots of problems using sio2pc(usb) with ape.Communication is corrupted, graphics are almost gone, text missing. No use with this setup.I tried the free ape version as well as my registered v3.0.13(where as Ice-T runs perfectly on this connection) Bought an ESP8266 with 5V break-out board on ebay.Waiting for that and then give it a try.Plato runs very well on my LiteDOS, no memory issues.Nice interface, looks great.Grtz,Sijmen. +remowilliams
Loaded it up on my U1MB 1200XL, standard XL config, booted straight from disk, P:R: Connection with WiModem232 set to 1200bps. Looking good, this is really cool - never seen this before
tschak909
@Remowilliams, an Atari ST version is coming. I'm in the middle of plotting the necessary font data for all the ST resolutions (TT Mono will use the standard 8x16 PLATO font, as there is more than enough pixels for it) (ST Low res will use the existing 5x6 font, High res uses the 8x12 font I am plotting now, and Medium res will use an 8x6 font) -Thom

Kyle22
With all things (PBI BIOS, Hard Drive, Extended RAM, etc) shut off, I get this: No keyboard or console keys respond.
_The Doctor__
Kyle, make sure you are set up like an 800xl and limit rs232 at 1200 baud....
tschak909
I am trying to work with the maintainer of the Atari target in CC65 to resolve issues with SDX. Are you able to boot the disk? It's a bootable MyDOS disk which loads everything including the req'd handler. -Thom
Kyle22
I guess I need to change the UDS-10 baud rate... I'll try it.
tschak909
If your serial pipeline is working correctly, you'll see a 'c' echoed back (there is a spurious echo packet that I left in the protocol stream for the splash, that I am using to test RS232 sanity.) -Thom
scitari
Any luck getting this working with SIO2PC and APE?
tschak909
APE's handler does some really nasty things. I have tried to talk to Steven Tucker about it, offering to help fix the handler, but he politely told me no. Nor did he want to help work with me to ensure that my software worked with it. So... no. -Thom
