TIstang
Hi all, new to the group. Had my original TI since 1982. When I got the collection back out, recently, I started reading the manuals that came with the PEB. In the disk controller manual I found out about the terminal resistor if you only have one drive. This explains the single disk processing option in the disk manager module. I didn't tear into the mounted disk drive to look at it but assumed it was there. Is this something that can easily be removed, stored and reinstalled when desired? Can an additional one be obtained and are they cheap? Does anyone have a pic of one? That will save me breaking mine, so to speak, to look at the one that must be on my drive. Thanks for any help!

Basically a drive selector. You can see the details of it HERE I know many people that have purchased a dipswitch to insert into this socket to easily be able to change the disk drive #. As these packs that came from the factory were usually setup for DSK1 and could not be changed without replacing the shunt pack.
+Lee Stewart
The shunt pack, as Chris mentioned, is for drive selection, but that is not your issue. You are concerned with the termination resistor pack. The termination resistor pack, which can be DIP or SIP, is almost always socketed and is relatively inexpensive. It is required in the last drive on the floppy bus for signal termination. With only one drive in the system, it would obviously need the termination resistor pack installed. If yours is working, it probably has it. ...lee

+Ksarul
The resistor packs are also relatively inexpensive. The resistor value is usually somewhere between 150 and 330 Ohms, IIRC.
apersson850
If you use both the internal and external cable connection on the controller card, then you need two resistor packs in the system. I have four drives, two on each cable, so I have two reistor packs mounted. One at the end of each cable.
