Coolcrab
Has anyone heard of these new refurbished ataris? I would be tempted to buy one of this is real, but I can't find any information on these things apart from the listing. Does anyone have one and could they review? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.de%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F253812838018 Edit: found homepage http://0711spiele.de/konsolen/atari-2600-junior-black-edition-mit-hdmipausen-und-stereo-umbau/ Edited August 26, 2018 by Coolcrab
mmervine
These look pretty cool. I see they also have a 7800 w/HDMI.
+-^CrossBow^-
I can't be sure how they are doing the HDMI, but the fact that all of the pics from them are stretched, leads me to believe they are feeding an S-video signal into a decent s-vid/cvbs to HDMI converter/upscaler device and mounting everything internally. Those pics look very much like how my 7800 looked through a similar setup with external devices. The fact that the picture is stretched essentially gives this away that is what they are doing. My TV is able to compensate and will squish these back to 4:3 aspect but no all TVs can and will do that on digital inputs.I would love to buy one and crack it open to see, but that is a lot of money either way.
+Gemintronic
The problem lies in how well the signal is processed from analogue to digital. Activisions no flicker rule is great, but, some Atari 2600 effects rely on the weirdness of analogue TV. That's why some homebrew that flicker/swap playfields and sprites look OK in Stella but utterly fail as a physical cart on a real TV. I still think a VCR as a cheap demodulator or a used trinitron TV is a good way to go. This is coming from a guy who has tried most of the options including LCD, plasma, C64 monitors and even USB capture devices
Shawn
There where some Irish 2600 machines that had a black bezel similar to that back in the day as well.
Shawn
I assume they must have purchased some of the NOS bezels from one of the folks that bought out the Atari left overs. I've not seen the black bezels for sale in quiet some time though.
Phantom_of_Krankor
Something about HDMI and Atari 2600 being said in the same breath just sounds funny to me.
marcallie
If nothing else the system looks really slick, like a Vader Jr.
